The Sundial 'Y' Plan is designed to provide independent temperature control of both heating and hot water circuits in fully pumped heating installations. This is accomplished by the use of a mid position valve. Time control may be provided by a programmer.

Sundial Plans were introduced by Honeywell over 30 years ago and today they still form the basis of most domestic heating systems in the UK.

The Sundial Plan identifies the grouping of control products which together provide a complete central heating temperature control system.

The main operating requirements of Sundial Plans are:

1.The controls should provide full independent temperature control of both living space and stored domestic hotwater.

2. If there is no demand for either living space or domestic hot water heating, the central heating boiler and pump must both be switched off.

The standard components of a Sundial plan are room and cylinder thermostats together with a motorised valve, or valves. Adding a programmer will ensure that the householders temperature needs are met at the times required.
