Solid Fuel Appliances and Open Fires

Solid fuel appliances and real, open fires are enjoying a renassaince period. Traditionally an open fire with a back boiler to heat the water was the only source of heating and hot water within a home. Nowadays, most homes have gas central heating installed, but lots of living rooms still boast an open fireplace. Most of these may contain a fuel-effect gas fire, but these lack the charm (and warmth) of either a real fire or glass fronted room heater. But thanks to various factors including peoples concerns about the enviroment, rising fuel cost, a desire to return to back-to-basics and of course the will to see a warm glow emanating from the hearth has led to a genuine interest in solid fuel. People are now opening up their fireplace and sweeping their chimneys and installing a real fire. There are various types of solid fuel appliance, see below for details;

Solid Fuel Central Heating Boilers - such as the Parkray Cumbria or Parkray G are both a solid fuel room heater and a boiler heating upto 10 radiators. A Trianco TRG is floorstanding, white cased gravity fed boiler.

Wood burning grate - or fire baskets are cast iron decorative fires that can burn either solid fuel or wood and are available in traditional or modern design. They will compliment any room a provide a welcoming warm glow. Also consider inset fires and all night burners.

Log-burning stoves - can either burn wood or solid fuel. Stoves are availble in a wide range of traditional and modern designs and are glass fronted, ensuring a satisfying and economical room heater.
