Harlequin 'goes dippy'

Oil storage tank manufacturer Harlequin is fitting its single skin and bunded oil storage tanks with dipsticks, it has been revealed.

OilFiredup reports that the move was initially trialled at the Federation of Petroleum Suppliers' Annual Conference and Exhibition in Telford, Shropshire earlier this year.

The dipstick is attached to the underside of the storage tank's inspection cap meaning that there is no need for its removal from the tank and the chance of it falling inside.

An estimate of the amount of fuel inside can then be made when compared to a level indication plate on the tank.

"Having consulted extensively with fuel distributors and tanker drivers, many delivery personnel still demonstrate a perfectly understandable preference for a visual reference point, prior to filling," OilFiredUp quotes Harlequin sales and marketing manager, John Switzer as saying.

Among the tanks manufactured by Harlequin available is the Harlequin Advance 1100SLA Slimline Tank, which comes complete with electronic tank contents gauge and tank-fitting kit.
