Armitage Shanks joins toilet revolution
Innovative new toilets are set to see a surge in popularity in the UK, according to experts.
Armitage Shanks, one of the country's leading manufacturers, said that the company had seen unprecedented demand for its Sensorflow systems.
These systems make use of panel sensors to allow the
toilet user to flush the loo without having to touch the handle, the Daily Mail reports.
And this is just one of the technologically-advanced toilets that are set to become commonplace in
bathrooms all over the country.
The British
Toilet Association (BTA) has already reported a rise in the number of innovative toilets, with record numbers being entered for the coveted Loo of the Year competition.
According to the Daily Mail, the increase in new and different toilets is indicative of a wider social change.
New models are arriving from Japan, for example, such as Aspen's, which utilises paperless
toilet technology to offer the user the choice of a bidet or a wash when they use the facilities.
According to Iyako Watanabe, the managing director of London's Saki, which uses these paperless toilets, it will take some getting used to, but will soon catch on.
She said: "It's just like when mobile phones came in… For a while there were lots of refuseniks, but once you get one, there's no going back."
