Brits installing hot tubs for romance
A growing number of Britons are adopting the trend of installing hot tubs in their bathroom because they think it will help them in their pursuit of romance, according to new research.
More than one third of the young Britons questioned in a B&Q survey said that they would consider installing the garden water feature in order to attract someone of the opposite sex, website 999 Today reports.
The DIY chain predicts that hot tubs, which are usually found in Hollywood or high-class chalets will soon become more popular in British suburbs, as around 75 per cent of those surveyed said they would like to buy one.
Lorian Coutts of B&Q said: "It seems that hot tubs are even overtaking the classic dinner-for-two when it comes to wooing a potential partner as nearly two thirds of people we surveyed would rank a hot tub date above a cosy meal out.
"It appears that hot tub dating might put even speed dating in the shade – three minutes in a hot tub makes a much longer-lasting impression, according to our research."
She said that the growing trend for hot tub installation could be due to the fact that people are inspired when they travel abroad.
But Ms Coutts added that they were popular "as means of combating the stresses and strains of everyday life and bringing a bit of luxury into their homes and gardens".
