Energy and cost saving tips for the home
Energy consumption and household expenditure often go hand-in-hand, as such, helping the environment and saving money can work together too.
According to Every Investor, up to £494 can be saved annually on energy in the
home, by simple measures and more elaborate ones.
Simple measures such as installing loft insulation can save approximately £170 per year, according to the financial comparison site, while turning appliances off standby can save around £25 per annum.
Other techniques can include replacing an old
boiler to save £80 and using low settings on washing machines to save £2.50 a year.
Furthermore, the site claims that there are a number of ways in which consumers can save water as well as money, by not running the tap while brushing your teeth and not flushing the
toilet during the night.
Water saving devices installed in the
toilet cistern can also save money and water.
The Publican reports that the Suffolk Tourism Partnership is asking pubs and restaurants to install water saving devices - small plastic containers that the user fills with soil or sand, or water-saving bags - in their
toilet cisterns.
