Toilet bomber jailed for five years

A man has been jailed for five years after blowing up a number of toilets in the US.

Bruce Forest of Connecticut who has been charged with blowing up a number of toilets in 2005 and 2006 was sentenced this week for exploding one toilet in Weston in accordance to a plea agreement.

Mr Forest mostly targeted portable toilets however he is also said to have bombed toilets at an abandoned petrol station in Weston, where he grew up, and toilets at the former Fitch School in Norwalk.

According to the prosecution, the majority of explosions occurred at night although his final attack took place during the day in a populated area, although nobody was injured in the blasts.

The explosives contained a concoction of chemicals and were detonated with an assault rifle, according to police reports.

Mr Forest's wife claimed that blowing up toilets was entirely unusual behaviour for her husband and very much against his usual nature.

His defence team argued that Mr Forest was suffering from psychotic episodes that were the result of drugs used to help him after becoming addicted to painkillers.
