Space toilet put up for auction
A toilet used in a Russian space shuttle is to go up for sale at auction.
One of 70 lots scheduled to go under the hammer, the toilet is originally from a 1970s Soyuz rocket and part of a collection of items owned by science-fiction fan Phil Parker, reports the Metro.
Used by cosmonauts while in space, the toilet is accompanied by an astronaut's toilet bag and "space nappy", according to the newspaper.
However, potential bidders may be relieved to hear that the latter two items are unused.
Mr Parker, who is an engineer, said he became "thoroughly hooked on space travel" in the 1960s.
"Over the years I have given 650 space talks," he explained. "One of the most frequently asked questions is 'how do [the astronauts] go to the toilet'. The answer is 'with difficulty'."
The items are set to be sold at Christie's in London, which has previously auctioned items such as paintings and Star Trek memorabilia.
