Air source heat pumps are 'eco friendly heat solution'

An eco-friendly solution to combat fuel poverty could be found in air source heat pumps, it has been claimed.

Heating products manufacturer Trianco alleges that air source heat pumps are both cost effective and renewable and are also easier to install than solar panels as scaffolding is not required.

Furthermore, Trianco claims that it can be up to 50 per cent cheaper to install an air source heat pump than a solar source, while the charity National Energy Action notes that air source heat pumps operate at an efficiency level of between 270 per cent and 370 per cent.

"Environmentally friendly products are important, but they have to be affordable to the person in the street. That's what air source heat pumps can do," commented Peter Ferguson, managing director of Trianco.

In related news, oil and electric heating systems in two community centres in Kent are being replaced with air source heat pumps by means of a £30,000 trial from the EDF Energy Green Fund.
