Baxi 'welcomes recognition of mCHP'
Boiler manufacturer Baxi has welcomed the government's recognition of micro-combined heat and power (mCHP) technology in its new Feed-In Tariff scheme, it has been reported.
According to 24dash, the firm believes such technology will play an important role in reducing carbon household emissions.
Under the programme, from 2010, homeowners making use of renewable energy technology, such as solar panels, will receive a payment of some £900 - with more awarded to those who direct their excess power to the National Grid.
It is hoped the scheme will put the UK on track to meets its carbon emission reduction targets.
Sarah Brook, marketing director of Baxi Group, said: "The UK is currently leading the world in terms of mCHP development and today's news will help to promote growth in the mCHP market."
The manufacturer recently launched the Baxi Ecogen micro-CHP, which is the first available is the first wall-hung, domestic Stirling engine.
It is believed the appliance is the biggest change to come in
central heating since the advent of the condensing boiler.
Baxi produces a range of items which can make homes more energy efficient, including solar panels and condensing boilers.
