Boiler scrappage receives 'enthusiastic response'
The government's recently launched boiler scrappage scheme has seen an "enthusiastic response", as Britons rush to take advantage of the money-off voucher to put towards a new condensing boiler.
According to the Guardian, thousands of people have already applied to take part in the programme - which sees a voucher worth £400 off the cost of a condensing boiler made available to people who currently rely on a G-rated boiler to power their
central heating.
Indeed, the Energy Saving Trust - which consumers should apply to for the voucher - has admitted it is still going through all the applications, meaning consumers may wish to be quick as there could be limited vouchers left.
"By the beginning of this week it had received 160,000 calls and around 36,000 people had applied for one of the 125,000 available vouchers," the Guardian reported last week.
It added the trust has now doubled the number of people working in its call centre to cope with the demand.
