What is a G-rated boiler?
Britons keen to take advantage of the UK's new boiler scrappage scheme may be interested to learn what a G-rated boiler is.
Under the scheme, any household - including rented properties - which uses a G-rated boiler to power their
central heating is eligible to apply for the programme, which sees consumers receiving £400 off the cost of a condensing boiler.
The Move Channel spoke to npower hometeam member Joe Jose, who said a G-rated boiler is likely to have a permanent pilot light or be over 15 years old and gas-fired or 25 years old and oil-fired.
To take part in the scheme, the old boiler needs to be in full working order and the main source of heat for the home, its hot water supply or both, Mr Jose continued.
He added that anyone over the age of 60 can apply for the scheme, even if their current boiler does not work.
Consumers can apply to the Energy Saving Trust for the voucher, which can also be put towards the cost of a biomass boiler or ground source heat pump.
