How to get a good deal in plumbing emergency
The recent winter cold snap may have seen boilers and
central heating systems around the UK under increased pressure, which may have left some homeowners forced to request the services of an emergency plumber.
However, such a tradesperson could be expensive, leading the Guardian to offer some tips on how to get the best service, without breaking the bank.
Marc Lockley states the cheapest price is not always the best deal, reminding homeowners good workmanship is "vital" as poor
plumbing could lead to further damage to a property down the line.
He advises getting a number of quotes from plumbers and committing to make a choice within 48 hours, while he also recommends Britons request an itemised quote which breaks down the costs of labour and parts.
"You may find, for example, that it would be cheaper for you to buy the boiler or shower unit at a local stockist [...] instead," Mr Lockley notes.
In the event of an emergency, a boiler engineer from Gas Safe Register should be able to advise consumers on what the best new boiler to suit their home would be.
