Businesses 'need incentives to go green'
When it comes to becoming more energy efficient, many UK businesses would respond well to incentives, one sector commentator has claimed.
James Murray, editor of BusinessGreen.com, said this may encourage more firms to make their operations more sustainable - which could see them investing in renewable power to boost their
central heating systems.
"More incentives is a big one, rolling out wider carbon pricing to boost energy bills and encourage people to be more efficient with their energy is another big one," he added.
His comments come after a study by Enterprise Rent-A-Car asked a wide range of small to medium enterprises across the UK what would encourage them to go green.
Some 58 per cent said they would become more sustainable if the products which could help them do this were cheaper.
Businesses may wish to consider fitting solar panels to their workplace should they own the building.
This could see them generating more of their own power and could also see them enjoy a cash boost by selling any excess energy back to the National Grid.
This is in addition to the financial savings they could make on their energy bills.
Should companies own the outdoor space surrounding their workplace they may also wish to consider a ground source heat pump as a way of boosting their
central heating using renewable energy.
