How to reduce heating bills

As snow continues to fall across the country and with more forecast on the way, many Britons may feel they have no choice but to turn up their central heating system and leave their radiators running longer.

However, according to uSwitch.com, heating makes up 42 per cent of the average household's annual fuel bill, which may leave many consumers concerned about how they will pay once their winter energy bill arrives.

In light of this, the group is urging Britons to take steps to ensure they stay warm without having to pay more as a result.

One tip it gives is to turn down central heating systems by just one degree Celsius in order to save ten per cent on annual energy bills.

But Britons could ensure they still save money and stay warm by making a further investment in their heating system.

A condensing boiler in place of an inefficient G-rated boiler could see people saving some £235 a year on their utility bills, according to the Energy Saving Trust.
