'Get boiler serviced' in winter

Britons have been advised of the importance of having their boiler serviced during or ahead of the coldest part of winter in order to stay cosy in their homes.

According to the Co-operative Insurance, having a boiler and gas fire serviced by a professional is one of the most important steps people can take in order to ensure their property is well protected when the temperature drops.

Such action could ensure consumers know any risks their boilers may present and avoid the appliances packing up and leaving them without heating when they most need it.

It adds that Britons planning to go away over the winter should leave their central heating running on a low setting to help prevent water pipes from bursting.

This can also highlight the importance of having a boiler serviced, as people will have the peace of mind the appliance will not break down while they are away.

A professional may also be able to offer advice on the best boiler replacements should it be needed, which could see Britons upgrading to a greener gas boiler, such as a condensing boiler.
