Amateur plumbers receive water warning
DIY fans from the West Country have been issued with a warning to take care when installing bathroom suites and fixtures such as toilets and sinks, as some appliances in the area have been discovered to have been hooked up to the wrong part of the sewage system.
According to This Is The West Country, some 32 appliances in Yeovil - including toilets - have been connected to the area of the sewage system which sees waste water being sent directly to the local waterways, rivers and streams.
As a result, Wessex Water's pollution prevention initiative Operation Streamclean has advised that certain appliances - such as those where the waste water is soapy or dirty - need to be hooked up to the part of the sewage system where the fluid will be cleaned and treated before being released.
While DIY plumbers should ensure they take care when installing new bathroom suites or appliances, they may not wish to be put off such work, as UK bathrooms recently suggested that such a renovation could help to boost the value of a property and attract buyers.
