Solar panels 'the new must-have'
Rather than a new designer kitchen or revamped bathroom suites, the latest must-have for homeowners are solar panels, it has been claimed.
Jade Wright, in an article for the Liverpool Echo, states that Britons are more keen than ever before to invest in renewable energy technology, in order to create both a green and desirable property.
Indeed, 46 per cent of people surveyed by the Energy Saving Trust admitted that they would like to know if their homes would be suitable for such an investment.
She spoke to Philip Sellwood, chief executive of the Energy Saving Trust, who said: "It seems people from the north-west are willing to pay more for a home with a renewable energy source so investing in a solar panel or a wind turbine could add to the resale value of a property."
Such homeowners may also wish to consider having a ground source heat pump installed, which converts heat stored in the ground into usable heating for a home and its hot water supply.
