Avoid winter damage 'by servicing boiler'

Britons have been advised to ensure that they take steps to limit the property's risk of incurring winter damage by having their boiler serviced before the cold weather sets in.

Writing for Lovemoney, Anna Powell claims that getting a boiler serviced is one of the first jobs homeowners should have on their autumn check-list of work to carry out ahead of Christmas.

"Summer is really the best time to get a boiler serviced, but if yours hasn't had its annual check yet, there's no time like the present," she explains.

Ms Powell adds that a qualified boiler engineer from Gas Safe Register will also be able to offer tips on how to make central heating run more efficiently in order to save money.

This may include the addition of a new condensing boiler or even solar panels and a ground or air source heat pump.

Research by Moneysupermarket.com recently revealed that more Britons are arguing about when to turn their central heating on, but making the system more efficient could end these rows.
