A new boiler 'could attract buyers'

The housing industry in the UK is currently a buyer's market, according to new research, which may mean sellers wish to take advantage of this trend by installing a new boiler in order to attract property hunters.

Indeed, according to the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA), there are currently five potential buyers to every property listed on the market, as the number of homes on estate agents' books falls.

During October, the average estate agent had 57 properties on their books, which was a decline from September's figure of 62.

Commenting on the news, Gary Smith, president of the NAEA, said: "There is strong demand for property and more optimism in the housing market than we have seen for months. This is good news for the recovery of the market and for the UK economy in general."

In order to attract buyers, the Energy Saving Trust advises purchasing a highly efficient condensing boiler.

The green group states that over a third of buyers are put off a property if it has an outdated central heating system.
