Cutting carbon 'cuts costs for businesses'
Businesses which take the time to reduce their carbon emissions will also find themselves cutting costs, it has been claimed, which may inspire UK firms to invest in technology such as solar panels or a biomass boiler.
With this in mind, the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme is targeted primarily at large public and private organisations and aims to save them money through increased energy efficiency.
Major energy users will be required to take part in the scheme from April 1st 2010.
Commenting on the news, James Ramsay, commercial director of Carbon Clear, said that businesses which got involved in the initiative early would now be well positioned to implement it.
"Our experience is that as soon as organisations start managing their carbon they start reducing it and if you cut carbon, you cut costs," he said.
Businesses may find they can keep their costs down by investing in technology such as a biomass boiler or solar panels - both of which can reduce bills and emissions as they are less reliant on fossil fuels.
