Yorkshire businesses 'struggling with energy waste'
Businesses in Yorkshire have voiced their concerns that they will not be able to meet government targets to reduce carbon emissions without getting some form of help.
The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that a survey carried out by Resource Efficiency Yorkshire (REY) has found that this is despite the fact that 59 per cent of firms felt the most successful companies of this century would be those which reduced their environmental impact.
However, 25 per cent stated they would need significant support in order to achieve government targets and cut their emissions.
Andy Hartley, programme director at REY, said: "In taking the path to resource efficiency, businesses will be better placed to meet the key challenge of maintaining wealth creation while reducing greenhouse gas emissions."
Businesses have previously been advised that they can cut their emissions and energy bills by taking a number of simple central heating steps.
These include turning down the thermostat by one degree Celsius and considering investing in a condensing boiler or solar panels.
