Biomass boiler to be installed at college campus
A new campus building in the West Midlands has included a biomass boiler in its design in a bid to achieve a BREAAM excellent rating.
The four-storey building at Stourbridge College will house performance and rehearsal space as well as a new community library.
Mott MacDonald, which is providing engineering services for the £31 million development, stated that the scheme is part of an overall redevelopment of the Brierley Hill area.
"We aim to help deliver a campus that demonstrates good practice in sustainability and that can be enjoyed by the local community and future generations of students for years to come," said Mott MacDonald's project manager Richard Fry.
A-Level teaching areas and a community space will also be incorporated into the design.
Last month, Mott MacDonald was appointed to assist with the rehabilitation and modernisation of the Polish rail infrastructure and is understood to be overseeing engineering work.
