Biomass boiler installation plans questioned
Plans to install a biomass b
oiler in a garden house in a South Yorkshire park may have to be changed following advice from experts.
Clifton Park in Rotherham is to under go a multi-million pound renovation and the council had planned on installing the new biomass b
oiler, but after a consulation it emerged that planning permission would be required to install the eight-metre high chimney needed by the b
oiler, according to the South Yorkshire Star.
Several of the park's 56-acre features are due to be restored using the £4 million awarded to the project by the National Lottery.
"Now the time is right to breathe new life into the park's landscapes and facilities, and we have been working hard with the Friends of Clifton Park and others to develop detailed proposals," Phil Rogers, director of culture and leisure, told the newspaper.
The project planners are now considering whether the will install a gas b
oiler as an alternative.
In related news, a disused hospital in Yorkshire is the planned site for the development of 75 eco-homes.
The Yorkshire Post reports that the new buildings will be powered by a biomass b
oiler located in the old hospital's chimney.
