Underfloor heating used in housing development
A new housing development in Croydon aimed at emulating up-market London developments, is to be built with underfloor heating.
The project, named IYLO, is a 20-storey tower which has the appearance of two elliptical halves sliding past each other and is part of £3.5 billion regeneration scheme for Croydon.
Darling Associates, who are the architects of the development, have worked on similar developments in central London and neighbouring areas, according to residentiallandlords.co.uk.
It was also announced that heating for the building will be provided by a communal biomass b
oiler fuelled by sustainable woodchips.
The regeneration scheme aims to elevate Croydon's standing as a location to live and place it as London's third city.
It was recently announced by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs that it is making grants of up to £200,000 available to farmers, foresters and biomass producers in a bid to help the industry and help with the supply of biomass fuel for use in heat and
electricity generation.
