Berkshire lady presents 'first feline flusher'
A Berkshire cat has reportedly become the first feline in the country to learn to use a
toilet.
Curridge resident Jacqueline Green trained three-month-old Dora to leave her litter tray behind, reports Newbury Today.
The enterprising cat owner told her local paper that she availed of a new contraption called the Litter Kwitter.
Working in a three-stage approach, the device features colour-coded discs that fit onto a special
toilet seat - after red and amber discs to begin, a green one enables a cat to sit on the
toilet seat itself.
Ms Green explained: "We train them by encouraging them and by using treats - you always have to reward them when they do well.
"They won't fall into the
toilet but they will sometimes climb into it," she continued, adding: "I'm not sure I can get her to flush the
toilet though."
Australian Jo Lapidge took her cue from Hollywood when she came up with the Litter Kwitter last year, deeming it the "purrfect" alternative to conventional litter trays.
When she saw pet pussy Mr Jinx use a
toilet in the film Meet the Parents, she decided to get to work on her own feline flushing phenomenon.
