'Shower toilet' makes potty time a treat

Innovative toilet tactics are helping to maintain the hygiene of one of the UK's most well-known "little people".

Kenny Baker, the Lancashire-based actor recognisable to Star Wars fans as robot R2D2, got his hands on a Clos-O-Mat automatic shower toilet which has turned the performance of basic functions into a veritable "treat".

At 3-feet 8-inches tall, Kenny's dwarfism made it impossible for him to clean himself easily after going to the toilet.

While on location in Japan, he was delighted that his hotel room had an automatic shower toilet installed, incorporating washing and drying facilities.

Kenny observed that Japanese people "love technology" and was inspired to invest in one of the devices for his Preston home.

"I thought, 'I've got to have one of those!'" he remarked.

"It was a treat to go to the toilet: usually, I have to put the loo roll on the floor and sit on that to try and clean myself. It can be very messy," he added, giving something of an insight into the potential toilet traumas of the vertically-challenged.

"The Clos-O-Mat has been a fantastic buy, and so comfortable I've been known to fall asleep sitting on it!" concluded the erstwhile robot.
