Global toilet-themed trend continues
As representatives from 60 countries prepare to gather this week for the inaugural meeting of the World
Toilet Association, a chain of
toilet-themed restaurants has opened in China.
While seats in Taiwan's 12 Modern
Toilet establishments are
toilet-shaped, napkins are dispensed from
toilet rolls on tables and food containers are also
toilet or sink-shaped.
Perhaps less appetisingly, many of the items on the menu are made to look like human waste, reports China Photo Base.
"Every detail tells you it's a bathroom, not a restaurant. But it's fun to eat here," one diner at a Taipei city outlet told the publication.
Meanwhile, Florida-based company LG
Home Products has unleashed "
Toilet Tunes" for sale via the web, a
toilet seat that plays music while users are sitting on it.
A sensor on the bottom of its lid detects when the seat is either up or down, with music choices including "soothing jazz", Latin guitar or nature sounds such as rain or ocean waves.
The world's only "
toilet house" has been opened in South Korea to mark this week's launch of the World
Toilet Association.
